Instant feedback on every writing exercise
In online writing courses, you usually don’t get any feedback on your exercises, or you have to wait for a reply. With ViaScripta, you get your feedback right away, on every exercise, as often as you like.
ViaScripta always knows what you’re learning. If an exercise is about tension, it looks at the tension in your writing, not at whether your piece is well written in general.
You get pointers on your own sentences: what’s already working, where it goes wrong, what you can do differently, and why. You don’t have to get it right the first time. No one’s looking over your shoulder.
Feedback
Learn to write scenes your reader feels.
You write stories, but your scenes don’t do enough. The conflict doesn’t escalate, the emotion stays on the surface, your reader breezes right through. This course gets to the root of the problem.
You write scenes with conflict that builds and emotion you show without naming it. You master the opening, the ending, and the pacing of every scene. And you know exactly which scenes your story needs and which ones can go.

What You’ll Learn
The five functions of a scene
Every scene has a reason to exist. You recognize which function a scene serves, and you ruthlessly cut whatever adds nothing.
Conflict that escalates from within
You build scenes around clashing desires. The conflict grows not by chance but through your characters’ choices.
Precise openings, precise endings
You open a scene as late as possible and close it as early as possible. No warm-up, no wind-down, only what matters.
A setting that works for your scene
You turn the setting into an active element. The space pushes back, confines your characters, reveals what they keep to themselves.
Controlling pacing with sentence length and detail
You speed up when the tension rises and slow down when the emotion needs to land. Your reader feels the difference without knowing why.
Showing emotion without naming it
You write anger, grief, and fear through behavior and detail. Not “she was angry” but a reaction that lets the reader feel it for themselves.
Dialogue that drives your scene forward
You write conversations in which every line sharpens the conflict or reveals character. Every word pulls its weight.
Revising scenes until they work
You assess every scene for function, conflict, and change. Whatever doesn’t pass that test, you rewrite or cut.
Good stories are made of scenes that work.
You want to write scenes that grab your reader from the first sentence. The Writing Compelling Scenes course gives you the techniques to do that, from conflict to pacing to revision. Start with module 1 today.
